ArtFest 2018
Wednesday 21 February 2018

Wylye Valley held an exhibition of Members' Fine and Decorative Art work on 21 February 2018 in the Michael Herbert Hall.  As in the two previous exhibitions in 2014 and 2016, there was a wonderful variety and the standard was extremely high.  One entry from each category (Fine and Decorative Art) was selected by ballot among the members and visitors.  These were:

Fine Art:  Bronze Pelican by June Cluett

Decorative Art:  Embroidered cushion by Jane Wingate-Saul.

Many congratulations to them both and to all the other entrants who contributed to an excellent show.  These exhibits were then included in the Wessex Area ArtFest which was held in the Corn Excchange Devizes on 25 April 2018.

Wylye Valley DFAS held an exhibition of members’ art work on 20th January 2016 in the Michael Herbert Hall. There were two categories – Fine and Decorative Art. There was a total of 23 entries altogether, and they showed an excellent range of members’ talents. Members and guests were invited to select one piece from each category, the items with the most votes going on to be shown at the Wessex Area ArtFest on 12 April. The selected pieces were announced at our February lecture, by Maggie Watts, the Chairman of the Wessex Area, who was our special guest.

The winners were:

Fine Art – Watercolour ‘Barges’ by Gabrielle Tait

Decorative Art – Lace ‘Nadder Swans’ by Jenny Collings

Congratulations to everyone who entered.

The Wessex Area Artfest took place at The Exchange in Sturmister Newton and was opened by Tim Scott Bolton of the Summerleaze Gallery. It was visited by about 200 people. The ArtFest showed works of art by members of many Societies from the Wessex Area of NADFAS.
